About deep technical information on this wiki
It is all fine and nice to try to keep things non-technical for non-technical users, but please remember that this wiki is not only for end-users that know nothing about the deep technical side of thinkpads. This wiki is also for the more active technical side of the thinkpad community.
In fact, most of the really valuable information on this wiki is of a deeply technical nature. Most of the thinkpad-specific kernel driver writers are very active members of this community, and we also have a good number of engineers and hardware hackers around.
Any dumbing down of the technical pages will be undone with extreme prejudice. So, any changes that attempt to make things less complicated to those users which are not technically-minded will have to be done without removing details or more specific technical information. This is quite doable even if it is a lot harder, and should improve things to both sides of the community.
I am adding this here because that new template you added worried me a bit. For all I know, you don't intend to dumb down anything ever... But it's best if we make such things clear right away, some of the pages on this wiki are far more about "why" than "how", and they're done that way on purpose.

Next time, please don't edit my user page, it is quite rude. Use the talk page, it is there for a reason. I am adding the reply you posted in my user page below.

The Linux explosion since January 2007 means that (probably) a (slim) majority of Linux users aren't "nerds." As one of these people, a major frustration I have using Linux is reading guides where the author tells you what he did without saying how he did it. That said, the technical users are an integral part of the Linux community and knowing technical details, even if you're not a Linux nerd, will help you more easily use GNU/Linux, so, I don't plan on dumbing things down, but I will clarify unclear sections so that newer users will know what to do without much difficulty, even at the expense of word count.
