Firmware
A firmware update package for the wireless function of this adapter is available from IBM.
The available firmware version is 1.04.09.00 and is available here
The firmware update can only be run from Windows
Linux WiFi driver
This adapter works with the 'orinoco_pci' driver as part of any recent 2.4 or 2.6 kernel.
In addition the 'hostap' driver can also be used.
Linux Modem driver
The Linux driver from SmartLink supports this device.
Latest version of this driver is 2.9.10 and supports both the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.
The modem works with the "ALSA method" which is detailed in the README that
accompanies the SmartLink driver.
Note! Since kernel 2.6.12, there is new ALSA mixer control "off-hook" which has to be unmuted before the modem can be used, e.g. by running "alsamixer -D hw:1".
